The Parklea Public Band and Music program is a school run body involving teachers, students, the school and our band tutors. The school currently has band, which includes flute, clarinet, alto saxophone and trumpet. Percussion, guitar, singing and keyboards are also offered to students. All groups rehearse once a week. Students are eligible to join the band and music programs from Year 2.
Being a part of a band is a wonderful opportunity for students and no experience is needed. During this time, students will learn to play and read music while developing an appreciation and understanding of a wide range of music styles. Members of the program will also be given opportunities to perform throughout the year. The many skills they learn, such as increased concentration and self discipline, carry over into all parts of their lives.
